Sadaqah T&Cs

Gift a Meal is an optional sadaqah you can add at checkout - given on behalf of the recipient - or that a recipient can make from their own balance at redemption. Every £2.50 given feeds one person.

Gift a Meal is voluntary. A gift card can be bought, gifted, and redeemed in full without ever adding a donation.

One hundred percent of every Gift a Meal donation is passed to our charity partner Lonely Orphans (lonelyorphans.org), a UK-registered charity working with orphaned and vulnerable children. The pot is used exclusively to feed children in their care and the wider communities they serve.

Hadiyah Card takes no cut of Gift a Meal donations. Our platform fee is paid only on the retail (non-donation) portion of a card, by the redeeming partner. The transaction and payment-processing fees on the donation itself are absorbed by us.

Gift a Meal funds are tracked as restricted funds in a separate ledger from card balances and general revenue. They sit in a designated bank account that is used only for onward donation to Lonely Orphans.

Balances are reconciled monthly and paid over to Lonely Orphans on at least a quarterly cadence, or sooner when the pot reaches a payout threshold. The current pot balance and the total meals funded to date are shown on our /sadaqah page.

We publish a running total of donations received and meals funded on hadiyahcard.com/sadaqah. On request we can share a summary of payouts made to the charity partner.

As a small business we are not a registered charity and do not issue Gift Aid declarations. If Gift Aid is important to you, please donate directly through Lonely Orphans at lonelyorphans.org.

Once a Gift a Meal donation is made - at checkout or from a card balance - it is non-refundable. It is a charitable contribution, not a purchase, and it is passed on to our charity partner as part of the next payout cycle.

If a card purchase is refunded within the 14-day cooling-off window before the donation has been paid over to the charity, we will refund the donation portion together with the card amount. Once the funds have left our pot to the charity, the donation is final.

We may, from time to time, add or change charity partners so that Gift a Meal reaches the greatest number of people in need. Any change will be announced on this page in advance of taking effect. Funds already committed to a named partner will still be paid to that partner.
